Our mission when launching Alec’s was to offer people something better all around — better ingredients, cleaner formulations, thoughtful sourcing, and a final product that leaves you feeling good after eating it. A real feel good ice cream.
Our culinary-inspired flavors get their creamy deliciousness from premium A2 dairy, cage-free eggs, raw organic cane sugar, and all clean-label ingredients.
All of our flavors are gluten free, gum-free, seed-oil-free, and free of artificial or natural flavors.
And because we love all things gut health, all of our products include prebiotic fiber to support digestion. Culture Cups also contain live probiotics.
Premium A2 dairy is foundational to Alec’s. Many of our consumers report that A2 dairy reduces digestive discomfort and inflammation often associated with traditional dairy.
Most all milk contains two types of beta-casein proteins: A1 and A2. Alec’s uses A2 dairy, which comes from cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein. Fun fact, all cows once only produced A2 proteins, but a mutation created the A1 protein through years of breeding.
Combined with our gum-free recipes, gluten-free formulation, and prebiotic fibers, A2 dairy is a big part of our approach to making ice cream that tastes amazing and hopefully leaves you feeling happy.
Yes! All Alec’s ice creams are gluten-free.
We design our recipes to avoid gluten ingredients so more people can enjoy them. As always, we recommend checking the ingredient panel if you have severe sensitivities, but gluten-free is the standard across our flavor lineup.
As Alec’s has grown, we’ve shifted our focus to making the ice cream easier to find in stores and through retail delivery platforms rather than shipping directly from our website. You can now find Alec’s at many retailers and order through services like Instacart or other grocery delivery partners depending on your area. Our sourcing has evolved as we’ve grown, and we want to be transparent about that. Moving away from certified organic was not an easy decision — it was something we thought about deeply.
With ingredient prices raising, we chose to keep our product quality and reduce the price to our consumers, rather than stay organic and dramatically increase our price. We did not launch Alec’s to have a cost-prohibitive product that would alienate many of our consumers and make us a niche luxury brand.
Because of the very limited supply of certified organic A2 dairy, we were also facing product shortages, which made our retail partners upset and frustrated our customers when they would see empty shelves. This move improves supply stability, expands availability, and moderates pricing while continuing to focus on the things that matter most in the product itself.
We still use premium A2 dairy, cage-free eggs, Regenerative Organic Certified raw cane sugar - and other ROC ingredients like bananas and coffee - and all real ingredients. We’ve actually improved the formula by removing gums, and working with our mix-in suppliers to remove seed oils, lecithins, and artificial or natural flavors.
